Learn More about Huntington Beach Pier

This municipality nicknamed "Surf City USA" has the longest uninterrupted beach on the West Coast. Surf City prides itself on its relaxed and casual beach community atmosphere. Nearly 200,000 people reside here. Surf City's beach and waves attract some eight million visitors each year, but off-water activities are also popular. The city has about 10 miles of shoreline that is divided into four distinct beaches. Huntington City Beach, a six-kilometre strip adjacent to the shopping and restaurant district, is the busiest. Year-round, lifeguards patrol the waters from dawn to dusk. They are usually a good source of information about their city. Main Street, downtown, is the main shopping and dining center. The City Council provides free Wi-Fi in cafes, stores and even on the sidewalks of the first three blocks of Main Street. A website provides all available information on restaurants, stores, events and parking. Every Tuesday, Main Street becomes pedestrianized and hosts a street carnival called Surf City Nights. This free event features musicians, street performers and vendors setting up their stalls on the sidewalk. If you're lucky, your stay will coincide with an exhibit or concert at the outdoor amphitheater called Pier Plaza. Almost around the corner from Main Street on Olive Avenue, the International Surfing Museum presents, for a nominal admission fee, the history of this typical Southern California sport through ever-changing collections of memorabilia and exhibits. In the summer, the city organizes many sporting events: surfing competitions, volleyball contests, combined events, etc. Huntington Beach hosts the U.S. Open of Surfing in July. During this event, the city welcomes a host of visitors from around the world. The action is intense both in the water and on land and includes live music and skateboarding competitions. The Huntington Beach Pier is the symbolic heart of the city and bustling with activity. You can search for the perfect souvenir to take home, watch fishermen cast their hooks in the water or join the crowd to watch the beautiful sunset. The iconic Ruby's Diner is perched at the end of the nearly 550-meter long pier. It was built on a diamond-shaped platform that gives customers the impression of sitting on the surface of the water.
